Unum’s Cancer Support Service offers ongoing, holistic care to help you navigate every step of your cancer journey.

Every employee (and their insured partner) covered by a Unum Group Critical Illness policy can access this service, which is provided by award-winning cancer specialist Reframe. You can contact Reframe as soon as you are diagnosed for immediate support.1

A cancer diagnosis affects everyone differently, so cancer support specialist Reframe tailors its support to you. Its wraparound care brings you all the knowledge and assistance you need to take control of your cancer journey and achieve the best possible outcome.

Ongoing support for 2 years

Cancer is much more than just visiting hospitals for diagnosis and treatment — you’ll need to adjust to multiple changes in every aspect of your life as you work towards recovery and beyond. That’s why Unum’s Cancer Support Service is available to help you and your family for a full 2 years after you register for Reframe’s support.

Practical solutions to everyday worries

Reframe can arrange, find and facilitate a huge spectrum of support, such as a local wig maker, a specialist bra fitter or a public toilet key fob.

They’re also there to offer an extra pair of hands with the little things. Anything from arranging transport or accommodation for your hospital appointments,2 organising a cleaner, finding local exercise classes or booking an accessible taxi.

Dedicated Cancer Support Manager

You’ll have one main contact: your highly experienced Cancer Support Manager. That gives you continuity of care, letting you pick up where you left off each time you get in touch. 

Reframe’s team members are all trained Mental Health First Aiders. They’re always available with a friendly ear, for reassurance or help processing the emotional toll your diagnosis may have on you and your family.

Your Cancer Support Manager is supported by a Reframe Cancer Nurse Specialist. They both have easy access to trusted clinicians and wellbeing specialists.

A Reframe nurse can even sit in on appointments with your consultant — over the phone or in person (if the appointment is held within 1 hour of London). So you have someone to explain medical jargon, ensure you never miss a thing and discuss what happens next.

A second clinical opinion

Reframe arranges and pays for a consultant of your choice to review your diagnosis and treatment plan,3 including a pathology and medical records review, so you can be sure everything has been covered.

    First contact

    Email or call Reframe as soon as you are diagnosed with cancer. They’ll get you registered and start supporting you immediately.

    Understanding your situation

    Reframe will assign you a dedicated Cancer Support Manager who will help you better understand your diagnosis and situation.

    Identifying your options

    Reframe will work through the options available to you, whether you are receiving treatment through the NHS or privately.

    Moving forwards

    Reframe will provide ongoing support tailored to your cancer type, changing needs and concerns over up to 2 years.

You’ll need to register to access information and support, plus Reframe’s network of national specialists. Once you’ve done that, you can contact the Reframe team as and when you need them.

More about Reframe

1 Reframe’s service is not claim dependent; it is available to employees covered by a Unum Group Critical Illness policy at any time. 
2 Reframe can arrange travel and accommodation for hospital appointments but this will need to be funded by the individual. Neither Reframe nor Unum pay for accommodation or transport services. 
3 The Unum Cancer Support Service provides one second opinion per user. It does not cover the cost of any treatment or expenses incurred whilst attending appointments, such as travel costs. Access to additional second opinions is available, but the cost would not be covered by Unum or Reframe and would need to be funded by the individual. In-person consultation support is limited to a maximum of 3 hours, within 1 hour’s travel from London. 

Access to Reframe is facilitated by Unum at no cost to the Unum customer. Unum is not the provider of the service but can withdraw or change the service at any time. The service is entirely separate from any insurance policy provided by Unum and is subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant third-party specialist. There is no additional cost or increase in premium as a result of Unum making this benefit available.
