Unum UK joins local LGBTQ+ community for Pride in Surrey 2023

The 2023 Pride in Surrey event took place in glorious sunshine in Reigate on Saturday 9th September and consisted of the parade route with Pride supporters lining the streets through Reigate town followed by the main event in Priory Park.

Created in 2018, Pride in Surrey is an annual LGBTQ+ event bringing together and acclaiming the under-represented intersectionality that exists within the community and offering the opportunity to improve and educate others on the importance of inclusion and diversity.

There was plenty to do for everyone including a funfair, youth zone and over 70 marketplace and community outreach stalls. Music and entertainment ran until 9pm and was split across two full size stages with a diverse range of local talent performing on the Community stage. 

With a head office down the road in Dorking, employee benefits provider Unum is a proud LGBTQ+ local employer and community ally. Unum enjoyed a record turn out of employees to support the event this year which included joining the parade through Reigate.

Following the success of the event in Camberley last year, Unum once again agreed to be Pride in Surrey’s Accessibility Sponsor, helping ensure that the event was accessible to everyone. This included priority entrance points, increasing the number of accessible toilets so that 1 in 6 toilets were accessible and a RevoLOOtion changing vehicle providing accessible provision for wheelchair users.
