At Unum, we empower employees to support thriving, sustainable communities by partnering with charities and voluntary organisations. Through initiatives like the Unum Community Fund, our corporate giving programme, we drive meaningful change.

Unum offers all employees the chance to give back to an approved charity partner via payroll, allowing them to increase their donation in real terms by donating pre-tax. Unum also matches each employee’s donation pound for pound to eligible charities.
Our generous employees have won us the Gold Payroll Giving Quality Mark every year since 2013, and in 2024 we were delighted to receive the Diamond award for the first time.
As a Responsible Business and to align with our people strategy, Unum has a network of charity committees, alongside our Inclusion & Diversity and Sustainability Champions Networks. These represent employees in all locations and are run on a voluntary basis.
Our charity committees help support and manage our relationships across the UK to include those working remotely or in a hybrid manner and are run with our local and national charity partners and coordinate all charity fundraising events, activities and initiatives, both in person and virtual.
Through the Unum Community Fund, we partner with charities and voluntary organisations to make our communities strong, sustainable and thriving places to live and work. If you encounter any difficulties accessing our application site, or have any questions about applying, please email UnumUKCSR@unum.co.uk.
The Unum Community Fund reviews applications on a quarterly basis and awards grants of up to £5,000 for community partnership projects aligned to at least one of our Community focus areas, which help to achieve the following aims:
Help to build resilient, more equitable and inclusive communities and develop projects which will have significant impact across the UK.
We prioritise applications that will help us develop long-term connections with communities near our main offices in Dorking, Surrey and Basingstoke, Hampshire.
We welcome applications from charities offering practical or skills-based volunteering opportunities for our employees.
