A salary alone is not enough: Unum UK introduces financial coaching platform, Bippit, for its employees

Specialist employee benefits provider, Unum UK, is introducing financial coaching platform, Bippit, for all its employees. This interactive platform provides a range of services, including FCA-approved financial coaching and support with life-stage planning, designed to help individuals establish healthy and lasting financial habits.

“At Unum, we believe in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where curiosity and ambition thrive. The introduction of Bippit follows a recent employee survey, which highlighted the importance of financial wellbeing to staff across all levels,” said Unum HR Director, Jane Hulme.

Unum’s 2024 employee wellbeing survey highlighted opportunities for enhancing financial wellbeing, with 28% of its employees suggesting a need to improve their overall savings.

Jane commented: “Given the UK’s current economic climate, concerns around money will be affecting all employees, regardless of age or seniority. Many people are uncomfortable talking about finances, but it’s time to break the taboo. For most, a salary alone is not enough to prevent money worries – which is why it’s critical to create a comprehensive wellbeing package that has financial wellbeing and support at its core.”

“Studies show that financial wellbeing is often unintentionally overlooked as a low priority in employee benefits packages, despite it being an area of concern for the majority of employees. There’s a disconnect here, and we want to address that with a benefit that helps our employees manage their finances effectively both now and in the future, so they are better prepared for long-term financial security.”

As a purpose-driven organisation certified as a ’Great Place to Work’ in 2024, Unum will continue to invite feedback from its employees, working to understand how it can best meet the needs of its diverse workforce with a comprehensive and holistic benefits package that covers all areas of their lives.
