  • Unum has seen a 91% increase in the number of registrations for Help@hand in the last 12 months, compared to the previous year.
  • Within the same period, Help@hand has experienced a 266% boom in user interactions with the app.
  • Over half (53%) of these interactions have been with practical life management services.

Over 335,000 users have registered for health and wellbeing support via Help@hand from Unum since its launch in 2019 – and the impact of the services continues to grow year-on-year.

“We are approaching a milestone, celebrating five years of Help@hand giving employees fast, direct access to our complete health services,” said John Hyde, Chief Marketing Officer at Unum UK. “The Help@hand app offers individuals total health and wellbeing support, delivered by trusted experts. We’ve seen employee engagement rise significantly in the past year, but interestingly over half of these interactions with the app were for other valued non-medical services, such as getting practical support through the 24/7 helpline.”

In the twelve months since July 2023, 138,243 consultations have been booked through the Help@hand app. Most of these sessions (42%) were remote GP appointments, whilst 40% related to mental health. “Interestingly, we are also seeing a significant number of employees using the app to take a proactive and preventative approach to health and wellbeing, with more than 8,500 users seeking out lifestyle, nutrition or personal training sessions,” John added.

User feedback demonstrates the trust in and appetite for Unum’s digital healthcare services, with 93% of those surveyed agreeing that the GP they saw via Help@hand dealt with their concerns on the day, and 9 out of 10 agreeing they would recommend the app to a colleague or family member.

“Help@hand is supporting more people to take charge of their complete health, leading to a healthier, happier and more resilient workforces,” commented John. “As we mark Help@hand’s five-year anniversary, we look forward to building on its success, expanding the service and delivering even better care for our clients and their employees.”
